A Flooring Vision

November 1, 2018

I had finished my morning prayers and I was in a time of worship when I saw a construction project. I saw a hardwood floor being installed upon a large foundation; quite a bit of square footage.

That was it; short and sweet.

God has a sense of humor as my buddy and partner in ministry is a flooring installer – in fact two of them are. I had a little chuckle and began asking God about it. Following is what I discerned.

·        Are we establishing a floor on the foundation?

o   Yes

·        A floor on which the ministry in this city will be built upon?

o   Yes

·        The building of a platform?

o   Yes

o   Ground floor: practical everyday life

o   Hardwood floor: strong & powerful; stable

So, the work we have done and are currently doing is building the ministry on the foundation of Jesus Christ. It all began with fire-pit worship. Then, as all projects go, it was time for the spot; location, location, location. The word was given and carried out to take the fire-pit worship to Anoka. That was all laid upon the foundation of Jesus Christ.

Now we are making the plans to minister even more effectively in the area than we have in the past. We are building a framework; a skeleton upon which to hang the meat. The flooring of the structure has been going down and we are about to move into a new phase.

It is good to meditate on scripture to maintain the level and plumb lines.

and thus I make it my ambition to preach the gospel, not where Christ has already been named, lest I build on someone else’s foundation, but as it is written, “Those who have never been told of Him will see, and those who have never heard will understand.”

Romans 15:20-21

This applies to the evangelistic desires of Anoka Awakening. To share the gospel of peace with all who will listen. Our desire is to make disciples, as we are called to do in the great commission. We welcome all whom God brings across our path.

The quote in verse 21 is from Isaiah 52:15. It is God who makes the truth known to man; we are His willing instruments. Father opens the eyes and ears of a person and draws them to Jesus. We, being the Body of Christ, welcome them and guide them, teaching them all that He has shown us.

According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder I laid a foundation, and someone else is building upon it. Let each one take care how he builds upon it. For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw – each one’s work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. If the work that anyone has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire.

1 Corinthians 3:10-15

There is a lot to be considered in these verses. The short of it, however, is that I, and Anoka Awakening, need to be sure that I remain true upon the foundation of Christ and that I build quality, for in the Day, I will be judged for the work I have done or not done. I prefer to be the skilled craftsman and receive the reward for my labor.
