Pizza Man Church

Pizza Man Church is a time when a group of people gather together to have a meal and discuss the things of life. For us it is a family gathering where we are creating new, and building existing, relationships.

From time to time we will pray with or for one another. We will, at times, read and discuss scripture - sharing, teaching and encouraging one another.

This is a time we can meet with and encourage those whom we are discipling in the way of the Christian life. It is a place for people to know when and where we can be found regularly. It is also an opportunity for us to support a local establishment in our city.

Pizza Man, 231 East Main Street, Anoka, MN 55303

The first and third Thursdays of the month for Lunch from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM

The last Saturday of the month for dinner from 5:00 to 7:00 PM

Fire-pit Worship

What It Is

Though there is no longer an actual fire-pit, the style of worship remains the same. Believers gather together in a casual atmosphere for one purpose – to encounter the Living God.

The lights are dimmed, and the music is turned up rather loud. The music is usually recorded and played on a sound system, though occasionally there is a live worship leader. This time of worship fosters a one on one relationship between each worshiper and Almighty God. We gather together but the experience is very individualized.

Some people sit quietly while others sing along. Some people remain still while others pace about the room. Some people stand, some kneel, some lay out on the floor, or any combination throughout the night. There is freedom in style of worship for the individual, but there must be respect for the others present.

This time does not include preaching, teaching or anyone’s agenda. This time is designed solely for individuals to have a real encounter with God. It is a time for each attendee to cry out to God, to seek God, to hear from God, and to be impacted through the development of a deep, personal relationship with God.

There was a residence in the city of Ramsey that had a fire-pit in a clearing in the trees on the property. A man began seeking the Lord while playing music and sitting at the fire-pit. A friend joined him, and they prayed and worshiped together. Some time later, another joined them and then more showed up.

This eventually became a scheduled event with men worshiping every Wednesday night and family night worship every other Saturday. It went through a few transitions and variations over the years concerning the times and such, but the worship always remained the same – individuals encountering God. During the summer months the people gathered around the fire-pit while during the winter the worship moved into an out building that had a wood stove.

Those who wished to receive prayer or who had a word for someone else would leave the area of worship and go elsewhere to talk. First, the music was loud enough that it was difficult to carry on a conversation. Second, there was an effort to respect the others who were connecting with their creator. We seek to maintain that procedure today. Even the leaders need to encounter God and their worship time should be respected just as it is for all others who came for that reason.

The property owner received an instruction from the Lord that the fire-pit worship was to be moved to Anoka. It was not the fire-pit itself, but the worship that was the focus. The Anoka Awakening Worship Time is the result of obeying that word.
